Valobat est l’éco-organisme multi-matériaux pour la gestion de l’intégralité des déchets du bâtiment, tout en proposant une approche différenciée et spécifique pour chacune des filières produits.
Valobat a la capacité d’associer à la fois une vision globale du secteur du bâtiment, dans ses logiques de fonctionnement et ses enjeux fondamentaux, et une expertise fine et détaillée de chacune de ses filières.

Valobat's missions :

our response to the operational implementation of EPR in buildings

The law on the fight against waste and the circular economy (AGEC) of February 10, 2020 provides for the implementation of an Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) channel for construction waste as of January 1, 2022. EPR requires companies that sell or import waste-generating products or components and materials used in their manufacture to ensure the prevention and management of this waste.

It is in this context that we wish to commit ourselves with the clear objective of "proposing a solution for each construction waste and for each stakeholder of the ecosystem of the sector". Our commitment as an eco-organization is based on 4 main missions:

  1. Prendre en charge pour chaque metteur sur le marché adhérent la gestion de fin de vie des PMCB, des éléments d’ameublement (EA) et des articles de bricolage et de jardin (ABJ)
  2. Offrir un service pertinent et adapté de points de collecte à tous les détenteurs de déchets de PMCB, EA et ABJ pour la reprise sans frais de tous les flux de déchets collectés séparément
  3. Créer de la valeur en développant les filières de valorisation des déchets issus des chantiers du bâtiment
  4. Supporting the evolution of practices of all the actors of the building sector

Whether they are major players and leaders in their field or smaller entities, Valobat aims to meet the needs of all marketers, not only to enable them to meet their legal obligations, but also to move towards ever greater circularity and reduction of their carbon footprint.

Beyond the marketers - producers, importers and distributors - Valobat accompanies all the stakeholders of the recycling value chain in the building industry. Owners , contractors, construction companies, deconstructors, local authorities, do-it-yourselfers, waste managers and industrialists: we will do everything in our power to facilitate the management of construction waste by offering a quality service to waste holders at collection points and waste collection centers managed by the local authorities working with us.

Parce que la dimension territoriale est fondamentale (transport, logistique, enlèvement, regroupement des déchets, exutoires), nous souhaitons définir les solutions les mieux adaptées localement, à l’échelle de chaque territoire, en concertation avec les acteurs concernés – collectivités, artisans et professionnels de la gestion des déchets.

Going further:

commit to developing closed loops

In addition to facilitating, efficient and organized management of end-of-life waste, our ambition is to go even further by helping to push the circular economy logic in the building sector to its maximum.

Products and materials used in construction that reach the end of their life become waste: we want to turn them into resources for the building industry. If properly sorted and collected, these wastes can be transformed into secondary raw materials that can be directly reused. These materials can then re-enter the market and be used again in a construction or renovation process for example.

This keeps products and materials in a closed loop - on a national or even local scale - and the benefits are many:

  • improve resource management and reduce waste,
  • increase efficiency throughout the product life cycle (design, production, consumption, end of life)
  • and create value in our territories at the industrial, economic, social and environmental levels.

The values that underlie each of Valobat's actions

En tant qu’éco-organisme multi-matériaux des Produits et Matériaux de Construction du Bâtiment (PMCB), des Eléments d’Ameublement (DEA) et des Articles de Bricolage et de Jardin(ABJ), Valobat souhaite fédérer tous les acteurs du secteur et offrir une solution plurielle et adaptée pour la gestion des déchets issus du bâtiment, afin de construire collectivement une filière bâtiment circulaire.

We wish to embody this ambition in each of our actions, through a committed and responsible approach, based on strong, anchored and shared values, in the image of our collective:

  • Establishment of partnerships with social and solidarity economy actors
  • Development of local industries, in consultation with local stakeholders
  • Traceability of flows to final outlets
  • Structuring an efficient, accessible and local network of collection points
  • Innovation: stimulating R&D actions and investments to create new channels by favouring reuse and recycling, creating new outlets...
  • Pooling of resources for the building industry: functional resources (traceability, reporting, consultation) and operational resources (network of collection points, pooled recycling channels, sharing of best practices in terms of eco-design or reuse of waste and recycling fractions)
  • Support existing and effective channels and leverage solutions already in place
  • Mobilization of the entire profession to advance the recycling of construction products and materials
  • Spreading of this mobilization among all the actors: waste holders, but also contractors, contractors...
  • An organization whose structure and functioning are designed to be evolving, in a continuous improvement process
  • Gradual deployment of free take-back by catchment areas or geographical zones
  • Adequacy of deposits (quality, quantity) and recovery capacities (technique, volume)
  • Complementarity of financial or operational models
  • Internalize and overcome the complexity of the sector
  • Simplify procedures (membership, declaration, etc.) for small marketers,
  • An information system designed with the marketers to be easy and intuitive
  • The right balance between human and digital to simplify the process while maintaining the relationship via the teams (field, call center)
