What Valobat membership agreements include
In order to join Valobat, you must sign a membership agreement for one or more of the the ERP schemes Valobat has been approved to manage (Building, Furniture, and DIY & Gardening). The agreements include the general and specific terms between Valobat and the member. Membership is free of charge and is available to any legal entity covered by the PMCB, DEA or ABJ ERP schemes and defined as a producer placing PMCB, furniture items and DIY and garden products on the market. By signing the agreement, Valobat assumes the legal obligation to manage the waste which corresponds to the regulation(s) requested by the producer. The member agrees to declare the quantities of products covered by its agreement(s) annually and to pay its eco-contribution to Valobat, in accordance with the fee schedules approved by Valobat’s Board of Directors. L’adhérent s’engage à déclarer annuellement les quantités de produits visés par son ou ses contrats et payer l’éco-contribution à Valobat, selon les barèmes votés par le Conseil d’administration de Valobat.
A producer or an authorised agent company may sign up for membership.
Stemming from the principles of public interest and non-profit status, and to ensure equitable treatment of all members, all membership contracts are identical. Once registered, the producer will gain access to its secure MyValobat space, where it can find its agreement(s), declarations, invoices, and all the tools and services provided by Valobat for its members.
Declare the quantities of products placed on the market
Members must declare the products and materials placed on the market annually, between 1 January and 31 March, on the MyValobat Member platform.
The process is simple:
- 1st JANUARY TO 31 MARCH OF year N is the filing season for each of Valobat’s ERP schemes: each member then declares the quantities it placed on the market in year N-1, specifying quantities by required unit (t, linear metre, m2, m3, etc. depending on the product).
- Once the declaration is submitted, the exact amount of the eco-contribution is automatically calculated .
- Valobat invoices the member for this amount, in 4 equal instalments spread over year N, in March, May, August and November.
- During the filing season in year N+1, an adjustment invoice (or credit note) is issued to the member, based on the actual quantities placed on the market during year N.

Pay the eco-contribution
Once the declaration has been submitted, Valobat invoices the member for the calculated eco-contribution amount, in 4 equal instalment spread over year N, starting in May.
During the reporting campaign for year N+1, an adjustment invoice (or credit note) is issued to the member, based on the actual quantities placed on the market during year N.
Appointing an authorized representative: how does it work?
A producer placing products on the market may choose to work with a third-party on
membership, reporting, invoicing, payment and/or management of audit operations. In this case, the authorised representative is the signatory for the Valobat membership agreement.
The producer placing products on the market (the principal) and the authorised representative then sign an agreement together, setting out the purpose of the agreement, the obligations of the authorised representative and the principal, and the authorised representative’s liability in carrying out its duties. The information that must appear in the mandate is indicated in Valobat’s standard membership agreement.
