EPR for professional packaging: new regulations from 2026
From 1 July 2026, companies placing professional-use packaging on the market will be required to comply with a new regulation: Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) for Professional Packaging.
Already implemented in other sectors (Construction, Household Packaging, etc.), this regulation makes producers, distributors and importers responsible for managing the end-of-life treatment of the products they place on the market.
If your company has products packaged or manufactures packaging such as:
- Sales packaging (bags, e.g. cement bags; cardboard boxes; buckets; cable drums; jerrycans; barrels; big bags, etc.)
- Grouping packaging (stretch film, cardboard boxes, crates, etc.)
- Transport packaging (pallets, stretch wrap, separators, etc.)
you are concerned by this regulation and will soon need to join a government-approved eco-organisation for the Professional Packaging sector and transfer your legal responsibility to it.
Valobat helps you better understand the scope of this regulation and supports you every step of the way.
Twiice & Valobat: a construction-specific partnership
By nature, the Extended Producer Responsibility scheme for Professional Packaging is a multi-sector regulation that requires solutions tailored to the specific challenges faced by the construction industry, which is particularly affected by these new requirements.
To remain focused on its core mission—supporting companies in the construction sector—Valobat has entered into a strategic partnership with Twiice, a government-approved eco-organisation fully dedicated to Professional Packaging EPR and a specialist in plastics.
By combining Twiice’s technical expertise with Valobat’s in-depth knowledge of the construction industry, the two eco-organisations provide a 100% construction-focused solution for industry stakeholders.
What the EPR scheme for Professional Packaging means for Construction stakeholders
- Administrative simplicity and support for compliance: new regulations that build on the standardised support and tools you already have with Valobat under other EPR schemes.
- Industry representation: support that takes into account the specificities of the construction sector; a fee schedule consistent with the sector’s challenges
- Operational coordination: between plastics take-back and wood, between professional packaging and construction waste
- Support for eco-design, reuse and recycling initiatives: building upon what you are already doing, testing new solutions and tailored support
